The Marina is anchored sheltered from the wind on the outskirts of the town centre, 4 kilometres from the entrance to the channel, in the heart of a site fortified by Vauban, called "Bassin Vauban". It is located upstream of the two other sites (Anse des espagnols and Quai des Islandais). The Vauban Citadel makes the Gravelines marina a very popular tourist stopover.
It is the 3rd largest marina on the Opal Coast, behind Dunkirk and Boulogne Sur Mer. It is part of the “Plaisance Côte d'Opale” network and has been awarded the 4 “Gold Anchors” label (Gold Anchors label), by the Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA), the equivalent of the Rough Guide for English boaters.
Gravelines, with its various nautical structures, has been awarded the “France Station Nautique – 4 stars” label by the France Station Nautique Network.
